MEDMA General Assembly Sets Strategy, Elects New Board Members

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association held its Annual General Assembly in Dubai, UAE during the Middle East Coatings Show in March. President Laith Haboubi outlined the future strategy of MEDMA: the key project for 2012 is the establishing of a fully equipped laboratory for the testing of Cementitious Tile Adhesives (CTA) at and in cooperation with Dubai Central Laboratories in Al Karama, Dubai. This lab will offer tests according to international standards for the entire industry, members of MEDMA can use the lab for their own testing at greatly reduced rates. Eventually, it is expected that Dubai Municipality will establish mandatory testing for CTA. "The regional focus of MEDMA will again be Saudi Arabia", said Ferdinand Leopolder, Secretary General of MEDMA, "together with our many members there, we are planning a Road Show on Drymix Mortars."

From 22. - 25. April 2012, the World ecoConstruct takes place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibtion Centre, UAE. MEDMA is proud to support this event. Special rates for members of MEDMA are available. 

The Middle East Drymix Mortar Association MEDMA, a short introduction

MEDMA is the international association for the promotion of Drymix Mortars for better, faster, longer-lasting and quality minded construction. Modern drymix mortars are sustainable, locally produced materials that minimize construction time, energy consumption, failures and maintenance time and cost.

MEDMA members are dedicated to develop, introduce and improve Drymix Mortars in the Middle East. The main applications are flooring screeds, scratch coats, basic & decorative renders, gypsum plasters, putties, tile adhesives, grouts, self-leveling underlayments, thermal insulation systens (EIFS; ETICS), concrete renovation, waterproofing slurries and powder paints.

MEDMA connects with legislators throughout the region in order to push for standardisation of Drymix Mortars with consideration of the regional building traditions & climates.

MEDMA members and partners are permanently adapting new developments to the requirements in the region and providing a know-how transfer to construction professionals such as developers, architects, engineers and foremen.

MEDMA is publishing articles and organizing conferences in the Middle East focusing on the contribution of drymix mortars to sustainable development and efficient construction with intelligent building materials.

MEDMA was founded in 2006, it has been registered as a German Association in 2007.
